Colourpop Super Shock Blush

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you my thoughts on another Colourpop product.

Super Shock Blush in Birthday Suit

So this blush is unlike any blush i’ve ever tried. It’s a unique formula. It’s sorta creamy and goes on sort of sheer but is definitely buildable which is nice. Because it has a creamy texture, I found that it goes on easier using my finger than a brush.

Description for the blush found on Colourpop’s site reads:

Our famous Super Shock formula turned creme powder blush creates a natural flush that’s buildable and super blendable for all day wear.

Birthday Suit is not matte, it has a pretty shimmer to it. In the video you can see how sheer it is (this is what it looks like with one swipe).

I put a little more blush on my arm and like it says in the description, the blush is definitely buildable. It’s a very neutral pink that is suitable for every skin tone. Birthday Suit

What I like:

  • Sheer
  • Buildable
  • Color
  • Price (it’s only $8.00!)

What I don’t like:

  • Formula – I honestly love the formula for a highlighter or eyeshadow but not for a blush. I wish I was able to use a makeup brush to apply this rather than my finger.
  • Shimmer. I love the shade, I just wish it was matte.

I don’t want to discourage anyone from tying this product because it really is unique and it’s such a beautiful color. It just didn’t work out for me. I still use it occasionally, however, I am usually on the go and prefer something quick and easy to swipe on with a blush brush. Because I use my finger with this product, it takes a little time to properly blend and spread the product out. That being said, I use it from time to time, it’s just not the blush I use everyday although it’s a color that is definitely suitable for everyday wear.

  1. Shade is really pretty, but whenever something is hard to work with it makes you just don’t wanna use it. I think I have similar color blush to this one from Avon, but that one is super pigmented, it is also really hard to work with. xx

  2. I have a couple of the blushers and highlighters that my daughter bought me for my birthday. Sadly they’re not available to buy in the U.K. so we have to order online and hope the colours meet our expectations. I love their products though – they’re so good and astonishingly cheap!

    1. Are there any specific ones you can recommend? As of right now, I’ve also only ever been able to buy Colourpop online because it isn’t sold in any stores near me. However, I heard that Colourpop is coming to Sephora in the near future (very excited)!!! I totally agree with you – I love their stuff because it’s good quality and you can’t beat the price!

      1. The Flexitarian highlighter is beautiful – a pale champagne colour that I imagine would look great on any skin colour and skin tone. I’ll have a look through what else I have tomorrow and let you know. I could also do some swatches for you, should you like me to.

      2. Flexitarian!! I was actually looking at that on their website! I had originally ordered wisp and I personally thought it was a little too dark for me. Then I couldn’t decide between flexitarian and lunch money at the time. I ended up going with lunch money but definitely want to purchase flexitarian! I’d love to see swatches if you ever have free time… no pressure at all though 🙂
